The Sacrament of Reconciliation, sometimes called the sacrament of penance or confession, is intended to assist the Christian in becoming more Christ-like through the forgiveness of sin.
First Reconciliation is ordinarily celebrated when a child is 7 or 8 years old. It is celebrated prior to the child’s celebration of First Eucharist. Receiving the sacrament is a culmination of preparation at home as well as through opportunities at the parish. St. Columbkille Reconciliation preparation is meant to form the family based on Reconciliation being a part of every day Catholic living.
