Pastoral Care is how we support people of the parish and help them meet their spiritual, emotional and physical needs. We do this through visiting, praying and ministering to those experiencing a difficult time.
Some of our pastoral care ministries are listed on this page. For more information about any of these ministries, call the Parish Office at 563-583-9117.
As part of the Caring Friends Ministry at St. Columbkille, parishioners minister to our fellow homebound or hospitalized parishioners by bringing Communion, visiting, and offering assistance. If you or a loved one is hospitalized, homebound or in a senior care center and would like to receive Communion, call the parish office at 563-583-9117 or email Alice Noethe.
You can help by joining the Ministry of Holy Communion to Homebound Parishioners. Bringing Holy Communion to parishioners who are unable to leave their home is a gift of giving beyond measure. Entrusted in bringing Holy Communion to parishioners in their homes, we represent Christ manifesting faith and charity on behalf of the whole parish community toward those who cannot be present at Mass.
If you are interested and would like to know more on how you can be part of this ministry within our faith community, or if you are a family member, neighbor or friend of someone who is homebound and you would like to bring this person Holy Communion, please contact Alice or call the parish office.
Parishioners who have lost a loved one are invited to attend. This ministry gives us the opportunity to pray with grieving families and share a meal. It brings people together and helps their healing during this difficult time in their lives. Contact Kathy Kisting at 563-583-5050 for more information.
To plan a funeral for a loved one, please contact Alice Noethe, our Pastoral Care Coordinator, at the parish office.
Many members of the parish offer assistance to families at the death of a loved one. During the funeral liturgy, parishioners are available to assist as Music Ministers, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Servers and Ministers of Hospitality. New funeral liturgy ministers are always welcome.
Volunteer crafters in our community spend time making prayer blankets for people going through difficult times. These are blankets of love woven with prayers and care from our parish community to support you or a loved one. If you would like to request a prayer blanket, please call the parish office.
Anyone who would like to make a prayer blanket please contact Alice in the parish office.
