Our Faith Formation program is intended for families with children attending public school and in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Faith Formation at St. Columbkille has evolved from a weekly Wednesday night classroom model (what you may have previously known as Religious Education or CCD) to an at-home, ‘growing together as a family’ model. Our Faith Formation content is aligned with our parish mission statement: God CALLS us to be disciples and FORMS us by our Catholic Faith to ENCOUNTER Christ, EMBRACE deeper faith and EMPOWER Christian action.
Our Faith Formation families gather once a month, usually on Zoom (couch and pajamas acceptable), and get together in-person four times throughout the year in-person.
This program is prepared and carried out in a way that parents initiate discussion in the home with the topics that we present on, and lead their family by example. A parent's faith carries their young children and this program is not just for children, it is for parents!
“She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak. She said, ‘If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured.’ Immediately… she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction. He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.’” - Mark 5:27-29, 34
Throughout the gospels, we discover that any person who sought Jesus for healing never left disappointed! In the 2022-2023 school year we are focusing on EMPOWER Christian action and are taking an approach specific to a necessary piece of Christian living - healing. We would like to lead our families this year to discover and learn about Jesus, our Divine Doctor, and how to practice His healing and forgiving power in their own family.
