Our Faith Formation program is intended for families with children attending public school in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Faith Formation at St. Columbkille has evolved from a weekly Wednesday night classroom model (what you may have previously known as Religious Education or CCD) to an at-home, ‘growing together as a family’ model. Our Faith Formation content is aligned with our parish mission statement: God CALLS us to be disciples and FORMS us by our Catholic Faith to ENCOUNTER Christ, EMBRACE deeper faith and EMPOWER Christian action.
Our Faith Formation families gather once a month, sometimes on Zoom (couch and pajamas acceptable), and we also get together in person several times throughout the year.
This program is prepared and carried out in a way that parents initiate discussion in the home with the topics that we present on, and lead their family by example. A parent's faith carries their young children and this program is not just for children, it is for parents!
This year we continue the focus of our Parish Mission by focusing on an Embrace of deeper faith for families. We will be doing this by walking through certain chapters of the book "Discovering God Together: The Catholic Guide to Raising Faithful Kids" by Dr. Gregory and Lisa Popcak, and other monthly resources. The book can be accessed on Formed.org by clicking on the book below. We would like to lead our families this year to an EMBRACE of deeper faith through the foundational aspects of our faith like the Mass, the Sacraments, Prayer and Scripture, just to name a few. We also put a strong emphasis on attending Mass each weekend as a family. This year we are excited to offer a Teaching Mass. We hope you'll join us for the program this year!
