Here we are at the threshold of another Advent—our season of preparing for Christ’s return. Christ is not only here but coming (adventum). So wouldn’t it make sense to make more space for Him, rather than squeeze Jesus into our lives as they are? We want Him to feel at home!
How might we make that space for Him this Advent?
Below are a few opportunities and resources.
Charity in Justice
Jesus waits to stretch our hearts as we encounter Him in service. The cost of food has emptied food-pantry shelves. Our Blue Bags for sharing food on the first weekend of the month are needed more than ever. An envelope for making a donation to our St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP) was included in the Advent mailing to all parishioner households. Those funds allow fellow parishioners to respond with compassion to our neighbors in need. For more information on donating to St. Vincent de Paul, visit https://www.svdpdubuqueiowa.org/donations.
