When we celebrate the Season of Advent, we focus on the immediate preparation for the great feast of Christmas which marks the birth of Jesus Christ. That is good and holy. Please prepare for Christmas well by Mass, Confession, Prayer, and Silence. The other focus of the season of Advent is to prepare for the great and glorious second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ at the end of time. Every time we pray the Lord’s Prayer, the Our Father, we say, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.” When Jesus brings the fullness of the Kingdom of God to the world, all our hopes will be fulfilled. Our joy, our happiness, and our desires of the hearts will be satisfied.
Friends, today in the Gospel, Jesus declares that he has fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.”
