Finance Committee members are appointed by the Pastor. They must lead by example.

The Finance Council is responsible for planning, providing for, and supervising the financial affairs and physical properties of the parish. It is concerned with budget, church support, and the efficient use and maintenance of the parish buildings.

A Word on Church Support from the Committee

Scriptures show God’s chosen people returning a tithe of the first fruits of the harvest. We too are bound to return to God a portion of His gifts to us.

Church support is an integral aspect of parish life, a way parish members respond to their obligation to the church. Each household (individual or family) is asked to reflect annually on their level of church support and to make adjustments as they are able. Church contribution envelopes are available for those who choose to use them. Envelopes are provided for support of special needs of the local, archdiocesan, and universal church.

Church support should include both financial and personal service contributions. The parish functions most effectively with support from both these areas.

1. Personally tithe 10% of gross income for the work of God: 5% to parish; 5% to charity.
2. Personally include the parish in Estate or Long Range Planning.
3. Raise money needed to attain parish goals.
4. Insure that the actual money and parish goals are compatible.
5. Maintain and review parish personnel policies.
6. Prepare and submit annual budgets to the Parish Council.
7. Review actual income and expenditures with the budget; advise when they diverge.
8. Inspect and prioritize maintenance for all parish properties.
9. Take responsibility for parish grounds: snow and ice removal, mowing, landscaping.

Estate Planning
Please remember St. Columbkille in your Law Will & Testament. Leave a legacy for your family because it is primarily through your parish church that you spend a lifetime preparing for eternity with God!

* The largest gifts the Church will EVER receive come from someone’s estate plans.
* 70% of the people do not have an updated will. Most lawyers do not inquire about people’s charitable estate plans!
* While most churches target their giving requests towards the Sunday offertory, 91% of a person’s assets are not part of their regular income sources (property, possessions, investments, retirement accounts, life insurance, etc.). This means the biggest gift(s) a person can ever give to the Church will be a direct result of estate planning.
* Many people that do Christian-based estate planning, make generous gifts to their church while they are living, in addition to what they plan to offer after they die.
* Through wise estate planning, significant dollars are normally diverted from taxes, probate, and legal costs and redirected to the Lord’s work (without decreasing the amount of inheritance family members will receive!)
* Several hours devoted to Christ-centered estate planning will likely be the single most important stewardship act that most Christians will ever perform.

Honor the Lord with a portion of your accumulated or appreciated resources that God has given you over your lifetime!

“Cast your net on the other side” of the Church’s financial boat!

All committees are accountable to coordinate and comply with Archdiocesan communications and policies.
