Finance Committee members are appointed by the Pastor. They must lead by example.

The Finance Council is responsible for planning, providing for, and supervising the financial affairs and physical properties of the parish. It is concerned with budget, church support, and the efficient use and maintenance of the parish buildings.

A Word on Church Support from the Committee

Scriptures show God’s chosen people returning a tithe of the first fruits of the harvest. We too are bound to return to God a portion of His gifts to us.

Church support is an integral aspect of parish life, a way parish members respond to their obligation to the church. Each household (individual or family) is asked to reflect annually on their level of church support and to make adjustments as they are able. Church contribution envelopes are available for those who choose to use them. Envelopes are provided for support of special needs of the local, archdiocesan, and universal church.

Church support should include both financial and personal service contributions. The parish functions most effectively with support from both these areas.

1. Personally tithe 10% of gross income for the work of God: 5% to parish; 5% to charity.
2. Personally include the parish in Estate or Long Range Planning.
3. Raise money needed to attain parish goals.
4. Insure that the actual money and parish goals are compatible.
5. Maintain and review parish personnel policies.
6. Prepare and submit annual budgets to the Parish Council.
7. Review actual income and expenditures with the budget; advise when they diverge.
8. Inspect and prioritize maintenance for all parish properties.
9. Take responsibility for parish grounds: snow and ice removal, mowing, landscaping.

Appointed by the pastor, the Finance Council meets on the 3rd Thursday of every other month, 5:30 PM.

Estate Planning
Please remember St. Columbkille in your Last Will & Testament. Leave a legacy for your family because it is primarily through your parish church that you spend a lifetime preparing for eternity with God!

All committees are accountable to coordinate and comply with Archdiocesan communications and policies.
