A Brief Biography For Fr. Hilary
I was born in Ghana on the West Coast of Africa to family deeply rooted in the catholic faith. My father was a catechist in the church and mother was a bread baker. I am the fifth child of a family of six, four boys and two girls. I was baptized on the eighth day after birth.
I had all my education in the catholic school and was an altar server while in the elementary school. I continued my high school in the minor (junior) Seminary then to the College Major (Senior) Seminary and was ordained to the holy priesthood on August 12, 1984.
After ordination I have served as Parochial Vicar (Associate Pastor), Pastor, Chaplain to a University Catholic community. Then I had the opportunity to study Business Management and Administration, Project Planning and Management in the University in Ghana and Cambridge Tutorial College. I then became Associate Financial Administrator for the Archdiocese of Cape Coast, Ghana (My home diocese). Finally I had my graduate studies with my major in Financial Administration at St. John’s University, New York and went back home and was appointed the Financial Administrator till my sabbatical break bringing me to Dubuque.
Joy of the Priesthood:
The greatest joy of my priesthood came at the moment when for the first time as a newly ordained, I raised the cup of salvation and called on the name of the LORD. I promised the LORD that I will repay my vows to HIM in the presence of all HIS people. This is the joy I have carried in my heart the past 30 years of the priesthood and that is what I will do for the rest of my life, to lift up the cup of salvation and share Christ with HIS people.
