BILL BIVER

Deacon Bill Biver was ordained on September 21, 1986 by Archbishop Daniel Kucera at Nativity Church in Dubuque. He has since served in liturgical, pastoral, and charitable ministry at St. Columbkille’s Parish. On September 13, 2012, Archbishop Jerome Hanus appointed him to serve in diaconal ministry at St. Joseph the Worker parish as well. His service at both parishes includes assisting and preaching at Mass, baptizing and witnessing marriage, presiding at wake services and funerals, marriage preparation and facilitating annulments, and spiritual growth and counseling. Deacon Bill serves as the current Chair of the Jail and Prison Ministry Advisory Board at Catholic Charities, also by Episcopal appointment, and as the Vice Chair of the Archdiocesan Deacon Council.

He had been retired for 2+ years after serving 40 years as an Electrical Engineer, but was recently hired by Fr. Gabriel Anderson to serve as the Pastoral Care Coordinator at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, in addition to his unpaid diaconal ministry.
