Dear Parishioners,

God’s Blessing it has been to serve 12 years at St. Columbkille and six years at St. Joseph the Worker. Your families of faith have shared with me the joys and sorrows of life and Eternal Life.

Thank You for your kindness and generosity throughout those years. I appreciate all of your faithfulness. I will always remember you in my prayers.

Feel free to keep in contact. My new address is:

Blessings upon you,

Dear Parishioners,

I absolutely love celebrating First Holy Communion! Do you remember yours? To this very day, I wear the First Holy Communion medal my grandmother gave me.

We celebrate First Holy Communions this week at St. Columbkille and the next two weeks at St. Joseph the Worker. Appropriately, Jesus tells us in the Holy Gospel how it is, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower." "Remain in me, as I remain in you.

Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unles it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing."

Thank You, Jesus, for giving Yourself to us in Holy Communion!

Easter Blessings,

Fr. Gabriel

Dear Parishioners,

Jesus tells us today that He is the Good Shepherd and indeed He is! The Risen Jesus is always surprising us with over-abundant self-giving. And such is truly the case with your new clergy for pastoral care, as assigned by the Archbishop, effective July 10:

Father Thomas McDermott will be re-assigned as Spiritual Director at St. Pius X Seminary in Dubuque, with residence at the Vianney House, and as pastor "in solidum" (and Moderator) with Father David Schatz at St. Joseph the Worker Parish and St. Columbkille Parish.

Father David Schatz will be assigned, in addition to his present duties, as pastor "in solidum" with Father Thomas McDermott of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and St. Columbkille.

Father Paul Atta Nsiah from the Diocese of Konongo Mampong in Ghana, will be assigned as associate pastor at St. Columbkille Parish and St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

May these three priests be blessed to be Good Shepherds to all of you!

Easter Blessing upon you,

Fr. Gabriel

Dear Parishioners,

Easter Season is full of God’s grace and blessings! From the Resurrection to this very day, surprise visits with the Risen Jesus changes us with His words, “Peace be with you.” Completing 12 years as pastor at St. Columbkille and 6 years linked with St. Joseph The Worker, term limit is the time for change. May the Peace of the Risen Jesus change us as we change pastors.

I am personally very grateful to those who have been faithful parishioners and generous servants of God’s work on earth.

Soon we will be working a new pastoral plan. Thank you for your help during this succession and the handing on of pastoral responsibilities. The new assignments will be effective on July 10, 2018.

Easter Blessings,

Fr. Gabriel

Dear Parishioners,

Divine Mercy Sunday is a universal feast always celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. All of the Saturday evening, April 7, and Sunday, April 8, Masses are Divine Mercy Sunday Masses. At both parishes, we are adding confessions at 3:00 pm Sunday with the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Adding time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation was the Archbishop's exhortation to the priests before the Chrism Mass. So Fr. Davis and I are also hearing Confessions during Eucharistic Adoration following the daily 9:00 am Mass at St. Columbkille as well as before and after all daily Masses at St. Joseph the Worker.

As always, you may schedule a confession at your convenience.

Blessings,

Fr. Gabriel
