WHAT CAN ST. COLUMBKILLE
DO FOR YOU?
OUR Parish Mission Statement
We, the Christian community of St. Columbkille Parish, conscious of our mission within the Roman Catholic Church, commit ourselves to be a living sign of God’s welcoming and loving presence. We will answer our call to give praise, worship, and thanks to our heavenly Father, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed, and to grow in holiness through the power of the Holy Spirit. United in that same Spirit, we will upbuild one another in faith, joyfully sharing the diverse gifts among us and prayerfully serving the spiritual and temporal needs of our parish, community, and world.
Dear Parishioners,
YOU are a GEM! You are God’s Emerging Masterpiece! God has made us eternally beautiful and valuable in His Kingdom. Like rough gems found in the rock and mire of the earth, we are cut and polished by grace to be brilliant jewels, royal diadems of the Lord, Isaiah 62:3. As a parish, “like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house” 1 Peter 2:5.
Just as Jesus rose from the dead, body and soul, our human body is integral to the Masterpiece of God’s creation, always to be treated with dignity and respect. With the communion of saints, our bodies are living temples of the Holy Spirit and will be glorified by Christ on the Last Day. God continues to bestow powerful graces upon the faithful through the relics of His Saints.
Sacred Scripture is clear that God works miracles through the remains of His saints and that it is praiseworthy to venerate them: “As soon as the (dead) man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood on his feet” 2 Kings 13:21; That they might only touch the hem of His (Jesus’) grament and as many as touched it were made well” Matt. 14:36, Mark 6:56; The bleeding woman touched the fringe of Jesus’ garment and was healed, Luke 8:42-48; God did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.” Acts 19:11-12.
St. Columbkille’s VISION 2012 identifies our present ministry goals, objectives and leading parishioners. By your stewardship of time, talent and treasure, the radiant light of God’s love shines through YOU. Be the GEM you are called to be!
Sing with me, “O when the Saints go marching in. O when the Saints go marching in! Lord, how I want to be in that number, when the Saints go marching in!”Have complete confidence in the Catholic Church.
May Almighty God Bless your family,
Fr. Gabriel Anderson
